The song "Ring Around the Rosies" was created to chase away any bad memories of the plague. The childish game was used as a reflection of adult fear and anxieties. The meaning is interpreted as: Life is beautiful but reality can be horrible.
Medical Methods
During the time of the Black Plague, bathing was almost never done. In fact many professional medical advisers (doctors) believed that taking more baths would be dangerous. By taking a bath you would open your pores this would allow the sickness to enter more easily into your body.
Bloodletting - opening wounds to allow blood to exist the body - was a common practice. Doctors believed that this would allow the body to expel the virus or sickness. However this opened the body to infection and usually did more harm than good. Doctors also believed that foul smells would scare away the diseases. They used urine and feces along with other unsanitary ingredients that spread the disease further rather than cure it.
